Beyond Business: Lessons from the world That strengthened inner faith

When we visit a temple or any religious place we can see many shops displaying flowers and other puja offerings to devotes. If we observe we can see that all shops offer the same puja things and subtle difference if any could be in the range. All shop keepers survive by being fiercely competitive. Some shop keepers offer value added experience and offer to look after our footwear for free as we visit the temple. This is a simple value add which appeals to inner most need of a devotee keen to visit the temple.  Some shop keepers invest time and effort in merchandising their offer of flowers most attractively. It is art and skill put together. It is instinct for survival by bringing in differentiation. Most importantly one can observe a certain inner calmness in each of them. They are not too worried to see if more customers visit the other shop than theirs. They accept with peace.

Not all lessons come from scriptures.

Some come from unexpected places—
like meetings, markets, targets, and timelines.

Looking back, my experience in B2B and emerging markets taught me something far deeper than business strategies.

It taught me about people, uncertainty… and inner growth.

External Journey

Working in emerging markets is never predictable.

•  Conditions keep changing
•  Systems are not always structured
•  Outcomes are uncertain

Plans that look perfect on paper…
often evolve completely on the ground.

At first, this feels like a challenge.

But over time, it begins to teach something deeper.
In that environment, I started noticing:

👉 Control is limited
👉 Outcomes are not fully in our hands
👉 Adaptability matters more than certainty

And slowly, a subtle realisation emerged:

We act… but we are not fully in control of results.

This wasn’t just a business insight.

It felt like something I had heard before—
in a different context.
Realisation

That’s when it connected internally:

👉 This is exactly what the Gita teaches.

We focus on:

•  Effort
•  Sincerity
•  Responsibility

But outcomes?

They unfold in ways beyond our complete control.

What felt like a professional challenge…
was actually reinforcing a timeless spiritual principle.
eflection

Those experiences began to shape my thinking:

•  Success didn’t feel like “my achievement” alone
•  Failure didn’t feel like “my defeat” entirely
•  Situations became opportunities to observe, not just react

And most importantly…

👉 I began to feel less anxious about outcomes
Emerging markets taught me something unexpected:

👉 Uncertainty is not a problem—it is a teacher

It teaches:

•  Patience
•  Detachment
•  Flexibility
•  Trust

And slowly, it pushes us toward a more balanced way of living.
Closing Thought

Sometimes we divide life into:

•  “Work”
•  “Spirituality”

But real growth happens when both begin to connect.

Because ultimately:

👉 Every experience—if reflected upon—can take us from activity to awareness.
Don’t just understand spirituality… Live it.
