When Desire becomes Devotion - Krishna Responds

When devotee desires intensely and silently Lord Krsna reciprocates

Event: Shayan Adivas ceremony of Gopi Vallabh devotees at Rajgarh Iskcon temple on Feb 4, 2022

Is intense desire a distraction… or part of the journey?

Hare Krishna 🙏

Desire is something we all struggle with.

Even on the spiritual path, it doesn’t simply disappear.
Sometimes, it becomes even more intense.

And then a question arises:

👉 What happens when a devotee desires something deeply?

We face a Inner conflict:
On one hand, we hear:

•  Give up desires
•  Be detached
•  Focus only on Krishna

But in reality…

The heart still longs.
The mind still seeks.
The desire still persists.

And that creates a quiet tension within:

“Is my desire wrong?”
Through reflection and experience, something became clearer.

Krishna does not always remove desire immediately.
Instead, He often does something more subtle.

•  Sometimes He fulfills it
•  Sometimes He delays it
•  Sometimes He transforms it

But in every case…

👉 He uses it to evolve the devotee
Insight:
Desire is not always an obstacle—it can be a pathway.

If directed outward → it binds
If connected to Krishna → it refines

What matters is not just:

•  What we desire

But:

•  How we relate that desire to Krishna
Context: Shayan Adivas is an auspicious ceremony of the Lord of giving rest to Him before installation the next day.

Experience: We were two families who travelled together from Mumbai to Rajgarh temple near Pune. Desired to reach the place for Muhurat of 6 pm to 8 pm. Left Mumbai by 3.30 pm. Google map showed us 4 hours to reach Rajgarh. We had intense desire to witness the function, hope against hope. Looked neither feasible nor practical. Finally landed up at 7.30 pm. We were expecting to see wrap up of function activities. It was not to be. We were surprised to see activities at temple to be in full swing & at its peak.

We enquired discreetly and to our immense surprise discovered that function was behind schedule. Reason was even more interesting to say the least.

Sequence of events as they happened: At 4.30 the team packed 2 sets of deities – Gaur Nitaai and Radha Krsna ( shown in photos above). They left with deities along with all celebration paraphernalia from Pune and reached Rajgarh & at 5.45 pm.

As they unpacked at a quick pace, they were dismayed to find Radha Krsna deities missing. This after they had followed a rigorous checklist process to precisely avoid such mistakes. Only Gaur Nittai deities were with them. Team was just not able to believe that they had somehow forgotten two deities behind inspite of taking all precautions. With a heavy heart team travelled to Pune to bring back Radha Krsna deities and hence the start of function got delayed.

This was nothing short of a miracle for us. We could not believe the sequence of events. People can call it coincidence – I have read this definition – Coincidence is Lord’s way of remaining anonymous. Lord had heard our unsaid silent yet intense prayers.

Lord’s will is supreme.  He created forgetfulness in mind of his devotees and stayed back in Pune. This enabled his Mumbai devotees to reach the venue and witness Adivas ceremony in full splendour. Lord Krsna is infinitely merciful. This is an example we wish to share to highlight his mercy. We remain eternally grateful.

Krishna is not just interested in our detachment—

He is interested in our transformation.

🌿

Don’t just understand spirituality… Live it.
